We want to support you on your journey into motherhood, wherever it takes you. Our safe, supportive space makes it easier to care for yourself as you prepare for a baby.
Why yoga?
Fertility challenges put us on an emotional and physical roller coaster ride, leaving us depleted and heavy with stress. Chronic stress has been shown to adversely affect fertility, and yoga is a well-recognized and effective stress reducer. Our gentle classes use yoga poses, breathing practices, and relaxation techniques to help you reconnect with your body, balance the hormonal system, increase energy flow, reduce stress, and nourish the reproductive organs. In a Harvard-based study, women participating in a yoga and relaxation program increased their chances of conceiving by almost 3 times.
Class details: These Yoga for Fertility classes are designed for women who are trying to conceive, either naturally or through assisted reproductive technology. We will allow time for checking in with each other, gentle asanas (physical poses) that support fertility, and relaxation / fertility-based restorative pose. No previous yoga experience is needed for these gentle, restorative classes. If you are currently taking a yoga class, we highly recommend these complementary classes so you can learn how to use yoga to support your fertility, how to adapt poses during various parts of your cycle, and to form connections with other women moving through fertility. Please wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move in, and bring water. A yoga mat is recommended for the class, and can be purchased at Baby Moon. Loaner mats are always available.
Instructor: Amy Naber, M.A., CYT, CPT
Amy comes to us from San Francisco, California where she owned and operated her own Yoga studio. After giving birth to her daughter Madeline in October 2010, she and her husband decided to come back to his home town of Lexington, Kentucky in order to raise their family. Amy has been practicing in the healing arts for over 15 years. She has incorporated her passion for health, spirituality, and well-being in her private sessions and in her group classes. Her goal is to create a unique and supportive environment for women to strengthen a relationship to mind, body, and spirit.
Yoga was the best "gift" Amy gave herself through her fertility challenges and while pregnant, and she wants to give that gift back to many women, mamas, and babies here at Baby Moon. Amy holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, and has a Yoga Alliance Certification as a Yoga Practitioner for Adults. She is Certified in Children and Families Yoga and Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga, and is a Certified Personal Trainer. Amy's unique combination of skills allows her to serve many clients with purpose and with an overall aim for improved health, serenity, and well-being.
Amy is available for private/semi-private, and 1:1 counseling sessions. She counsels and designs programs specific to each client's needs. She has specialized in yoga practices for fertility and has counseled those who need support with weight management and healthful eating before, during, and after pregnancy.
